Valpurgis Blot

Gotlandic Picture-Stone Border Featuring Interlaced Birds

The Valpurgis blot was held a bit later than origianlly planned on May 9th. We made our usual trip into the Bosque and found a familiar site where many horns have been poured and many loaves left for the landwights. It is a small clear patch on the very bank of the river. A small worn slide in the bank offers a perfect place to pour out blessing, and a convinient pile of tented windfall branches offers a perfect spot to set the landwights' share. Barhelm led the blot, hailing well Frey, Freyja, Waelburga, and all great gods and goddesses. So too hailed we ancestors and great ones gone by. Our blot was briefly, and properly, interupted by a curious dog, which I though perfect after reading up on Waelburga, seeing as it is her helping animal. The blot went well and seemed to me well recieved. Spring is beyond here in New Mexico and the day's heat seemed more than enough proof that Winter had been well chased away.

Anyone interested in attending our next Blot, or just meeting the group in Albuquerque, should feel free to contact me.
